Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your safari guide who will brief you about the journey ahead. Afterward, embark on a scenic drive towards Kibale Forest National Park, a journey of approximately 5–6 hours, passing through vibrant towns, rolling hills, tea plantations, and lush countryside.

Kibale Forest is famously known as the “Primate Capital of the World” due to its high concentration of primates, including chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, red colobus monkeys, and more. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, check-in, and relax amidst the tranquil forest surroundings.

After an early breakfast, head to Kibale Forest headquarters for a briefing before setting off on a thrilling chimpanzee tracking adventure. Led by an experienced ranger guide, trek through the dense forest in search of these intelligent primates. Once found, you will spend a magical hour observing them as they play, groom, and interact in their natural environment.

In the afternoon, embark on a guided nature walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed reserve renowned for its rich biodiversity. The sanctuary is home to numerous primates, birds, butterflies, and plant species. Expect to spot red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and a variety of bird species, including the impressive Great Blue Turaco.

After breakfast, check out and set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes, terraced hillsides, and traditional homesteads of southwestern Uganda.

You will have lunch en route in the town of Kabale, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its cool climate and beautiful highlands. Continue your drive to Bwindi, arriving in the late afternoon. Check in to your lodge, rest, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety precautions. You’ll then be assigned to a gorilla family and set off into the dense forest, accompanied by rangers and guides. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these gentle giants up close — a truly humbling and unforgettable experience.

In the afternoon, you have the option to visit a nearby Batwa pygmy community. Learn about their traditional forest-based lifestyle, music, dance, and cultural heritage. This cultural encounter adds a meaningful touch to your primate safari experience.

After breakfast, check out and embark on a return journey to Entebbe, passing through the picturesque Kigezi highlands and lush Ankole countryside. Along the way, make a stop at the Uganda Equator crossing for photos and souvenir shopping.

Arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon or early evening, where you will either be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight or to your hotel if staying overnight.
