Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your safari guide who will brief you about your upcoming adventure. From here, you’ll embark on a scenic drive through the lush countryside, tea plantations, and rolling hills of western Uganda, heading towards Kibale National Park — widely known as the primate capital of East Africa.

Depending on your arrival time, you may stop for lunch in the town of Fort Portal, surrounded by the beautiful Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the "Mountains of the Moon." In the evening, check into your lodge and relax as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking experience.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before venturing into the lush Kibale Forest in search of chimpanzees. The forest is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, along with other primates such as red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Following expert trackers, you’ll trek through the tropical forest, listening for the chimpanzees’ distinct calls.

Once located, you’ll spend a magical hour observing the chimpanzees as they play, groom, and swing through the trees. It’s a fascinating, up-close look into the lives of our closest relatives.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk at the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, an excellent spot for birdwatching and seeing other primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys. The sanctuary is rich with biodiversity and gives insight into the local community’s conservation efforts.

After breakfast, depart Kibale and drive southwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most famous and diverse protected areas. The drive offers stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains and the chance to spot wildlife along the way.

Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the late afternoon, embark on your first game drive in the park. Explore the open savannahs of the Kasenyi plains, known for large herds of Uganda kob, buffalo, elephants, and various bird species. Keep an eye out for lions, often seen resting under acacia trees or stalking prey in the grasslands.

As the sun sets over the savannah, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Start your day with an early morning game drive, maximizing your chances to see predators like lions and leopards before the heat of the day sets in. The Kasenyi plains and Mweya Peninsula are particularly rewarding during these hours, with opportunities to spot elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, and various bird species.

After lunch, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. This boat trip offers some of the best wildlife viewing in the park, with large herds of hippos, crocodiles basking on the banks, and elephants coming down to drink. Birdlife is abundant, including African fish eagles, kingfishers, and pelicans.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and a relaxing overnight.

After breakfast, check out and begin your return journey to Entebbe with a stop for lunch en route. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for craft shopping or a brief visit to the Uganda Equator line for memorable photo opportunities.
